Who is hiding behind Nunamae?

My name is Mariana, I have a degree in design and have a passion for crafts and decoration. I founded Nunamae in 2020, just after confinement. I am also a mother of a 6 year old boy and I live in Lisbon! 

What are your desires with Nunamae?

In 2020, in the midst of a pandemic crisis, I decided to create Nunamae, a brand of handmade rugs made from recycled materials (either cotton or linen). Nunamae creates more durable and quality decorative products, while encouraging local production and craftsmanship in Portugal. We reduce our ecological footprint and encourage our customers to consume more responsibly.

What are your inspirations?

My main inspiration, in terms of architecture or decoration, is undoubtedly the Mediterranean style. I grew up in Portugal, surrounded by nature and sunshine. I appreciate minimalist spaces with neutral and natural colors, which bring nature indoors. I like to promote the fact of bringing conviviality inside the house, with the family, by living in slow living mode. I think simple objects in natural colors make a space more harmonious and comfortable.

Your favorite product?

My favorite product is the Luca beige rug model, but I also have a soft spot for the ecru pouf.

We have just launched our new collection of wool rugs!

What is your favorite room in the house?

My favorite room is the living room, where we can spend family time any time of the year. I like to welcome my family and my friends at home, conviviality is very important to me.

Your cute sin in decoration?

I try to have only the essentials at home, in terms of decoration. I couldn't do without plants and I love big clay pots!

I just bought a bigger sofa ;)
