These elegant, decorative, and delicate candles are handcrafted by one of the last remaining candlemakers in France using an age-old method. The "dip-cast" method allows for the creation of conical candles, tapering to a point. Cotton wicks are arranged in a U-shape on wooden sticks, which are then fixed to frames and dipped into the wax by the candlemakers. Color pigments are sprinkled throughout the molten wax. The resulting colors are vibrant and sometimes surprising, creating unexpected hues. The candles burn slowly and without smoke. Once lit, the candle provides a soft and pleasant glow.
Maison Pechavy recently fell head over heels for a French candle manufacturer, La Ciergerie des Prémontrés. Awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant (Living Heritage Company) label, this candle factory offers ancestral know-how in the production of brightly colored candles, using tools that are over 100 years old.
